1st - Respect the Mic…Respect the mic, Respect the mic!! A mute/un-mute button is available to everyone. We prefer that you use the one on the phone you are using, but you can also use the number 6 key on your keypad to turn on and off the mute feature of the conference call system. Please mute yourself during the performances and brief interviews of poets. However, when the poet finishes their performance, you can un-mute yourself briefly to show your appreciation for the poem by snapping, giving a shout-out to the performer or saying something profound about the poet like “Yeah, that was deep!”. 2nd – Roll-Call is between 9:30 and 9:55 pm ESTIf you are not there, then you risk losing your spot. We reserve the right to put another poet in your place if you miss roll-call! 3rd - 5 minutes on the MicOpen-mic performers get 5 minutes to perform their work. Use the time wisely; a long intro will cut into your performance time. 4th - Be ProfessionalBecause you cannot see who is listening, there is no way to know who is camped-out silently taking everything in. It could be someone trying to find a feature for their show. Mistakes are ok, we all make them, just don't act foolish. Remember, this is being recorded and will be made available for free-download, try to nail it because after the download is posted no telling how many people are going to hear you. And lastly, enjoy yourselves! The Session is about vibing on poetry and spoken word, yours and everyone else who is performing that night. Every last one of you is appreciated. Like we say, it is 99.9% Poetic Inspiration, Come Get Some! |
